Elmer William Schonscheck, 83, of Woodhull, entered eternal rest when he died at his home on Friday, May 6, 2011, at home.
He was born on August 28, 1927, in the Town of Poygan, a son of Otto and Eva Seidlitz Schonscheck.
Elmer entered the Congregation of Believers through baptism on September 25, 1927. He attended Hill School in the Town of Poygan. Elmer confirmed his faith on November 12, 1947.
On August 2, 1947, he married Bernice Ramona Hartzke at St. Paul’s Ev. Lutheran Church, Winneconne.
The Lord blessed Elmer and Bernice with two boys: Elmer W. (Darice) Schonscheck and Robert M. (Cheryl) Schonscheck; and twin daughters: Judy M. (Roger) Fenner and June K. (Carl) Kuchenbecker. They were also blessed with eight grandchildren: Suzanne (Tim) St. Mary, Annette (Eric) Drew, James (Jodie) Schonscheck, Tarin Schonscheck, Ryan (Beckie) Schonscheck, Jason (Stacey) Fenner, Jesse (Shari) Fenner, and Jill (Glenn) Beske. Continued blessings were their 14 great-grandchildren: Nathan, Brandon, and Owen St. Mary, Avery and Annelise Drew, Connor and Garrett Hyler, Molly Schonscheck, Payton and Connor Schonscheck, Maddison and Jackson Fenner, and Cole and Dilan Fenner.
Elmer was a farmer, employed by the Darling Company, worked for Rasmussen Construction, Tack Oil, and Merwin Oil. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, flying, gardening, and woodworking. Elmer and Bernice are members of St. Peter’s Ev. Lutheran Church, Fond du Lac.
He is survived by his wife, Bernice; one brother, Gordon (Donna) Schonscheck; one sister, Violet (Richard) Kiesow; four sisters-in-law: Myra, Donna, and Virginia Schonscheck, and Gladys Hall; many nieces, nephews, neighbors, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; five brothers: Arvin (Jannette), Arnold, Alvin, Harold, and Carl (infant), two sisters: Agnes (Rex) Coats, and Hazel (infant); and a brother-in-law, Merle Hall.
The funeral service will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Monday, May 9, 2011, at Mach Funeral Chapel & Crematory, 31 East Division Street, Fond du Lac, with Rev. Michael J. Zuberbier officiating. Burial will be at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 10, 2011, at Estabrooks Cemetery.
The visitation will be on Monday at Mach Funeral Chapel & Crematory from 4:00 p.m. until the time of service.
