Frances J. Lemke

Frances Josephine (Eggers) Lemke, of Fond du Lac, is home in heaven after almost 95 years of good times on earth.

Franny was born on June 27, 1917, in Fond du Lac, a daughter of Frank and Nora Kraus Eggers. She attended St. Mary’s Grade School and St. Mary’s Springs Academy.

On June 30, 1937, she married Roland “Mike” Lemke at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church.

Frances was a devout Catholic and lived her faith by attending daily Mass, volunteering at St. Agnes Hospital, and being an active member of many organizations at Presentation of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Parish and School.

Before her marriage, she worked at Infant Socks. Frances raised her family and later went to work at Wells Manufacturing and Miles Kimball. She belonged to a card club and a bowling league for many years. She loved to travel and some of her best times were had while driving across the USA with her sisters, on many of their crazy trips.

Frances was the sweetest woman, with the sweetest laugh and smile, who always had happy words for everyone she spoke with. What a wonderful person we were blessed to have in our lives.

She is surivived by three children: Mary (Duane) Stibb of Fond du Lac, Michael (Donna) Lemke of Madison, and Roland Jr. (Cindy) Lemke of Hayward; a daughter-in-law, Rosemarie Lemke; a son-in-law, Roland Wilson; 25 grandchildren: Mike Stibb, Tom (Carol) Stibb, Kelly (Tom) Peachy, Jessy (Carl) Wagner, Isaac Lemke, Joseph Lemke, James Lemke, Bob Kremer, Chad Kremer, Brandon Lemke, Cameron (Shannon) Lemke, Theresa Mayer, Becky (Darin) Saari, Rich Lemke, Mary (Brian) Palkovich, Jim (Robyn) Haskett, Bill Haskett, Ryan Wilson, Vicky Wilson, Dawn Wilson, Tammy (Mike) Lewis, Stephanie (Charles) Griffiths, Fred Jr. (Sue) Lemke, Wade Lemke, and Darren Lemke; 28 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; three sisters: Laurie (George) VonBrugger of Florida, Connie (Walter) Brummond of Darboy, and Donna (Carl) Marquardt of Fond du Lac; and a brother, Leonard (Katy) Eggers of California.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Roland in 1996; three sons: Kenneth, who died at birth, Richard, and Frederick Lemke; a daughter, Judith Wilson; five sisters: Helen Huhn, Marie Winkler, Evie Winkler, Joan Bublitz, and Jackie Eggers; three brothers: Arthur, Frank, and Verne Eggers; and a dear friend, Virgil Beaster.

The family would like to thank all of the caregivers and maintenance staff at St. Francis Home. Their loving care, compassion, and humor will always have a special place in our hearts. Bless you.

The visitation will be from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. on Monday, May 21, 2012, at Mach Funeral Chapel & Crematory, 31 E. Division Street, Fond du Lac, followed by cremation Monday evening. The family will greet friends and relatives on Tuesday at church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, May 22, 2012, at Presentation of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Parish, 706 Minnesota Avenue, North Fond du Lac, with Fr. John Simon officiating. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery.
