Arthur "Art" G. Freiberg, Sr.

Arthur G. Freiberg, Sr., 94, a resident of The Heritage Nursing Home, Appleton, Wisconsin, died Friday, May 18, 2012.

He was born on February 2, 1918, in Fond du Lac, a son of Charles F. and Rose Hensel Freiberg.

Art was a graduate of St. Peter’s Lutheran School, Fond du Lac Senior High School, and Fond du Lac Business College.

On October 21, 1939, he married Ruth L. Brauer at Church of Our Saviour, Fond du Lac.

Art’s father started Freiberg Real Estate and Insurance in 1902, and Art continued the business until his retirement in 1979.

He was a former member of St. Peter’s Ev. Lutheran Church, Fond du Lac, Senior Bowling League, Fond du Lac Board of Realtors, and Fond du Lac Board of Insurance Underwriters. Art was a current member of Faith Lutheran Church, Appleton.

He is survived by three children: Joan (David) Steinert of Tomah, Arthur (Mary) Freiberg, Jr. of Gresham, and Marcie (Robert) Halverson of Cary, Illinois; seven grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; two sisters-in-law: Hazel Freiberg of Appleton, and Muriel Brauer of Chicago, Illinois.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Ruth Brauer Freiberg on November 12, 1985; three brothers: Carl Freiberg, Orville Freiberg, and Alfred Freiberg; a daughter-in-law, Devra Boudry Freiberg; and a life companion, Ruth Hosmer on February 24, 2007.

The funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 22, 2012, at Mach Funeral Chapel & Crematory, 31 E. Division Street, Fond du Lac, with Pastor Leon L. Knitt officiating. Burial will be in Estabrooks Cemetery.

The visitation will be on Tuesday at Mach Funeral Chapel & Crematory from noon until the time of service.
